Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' the first artist of female gender with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Dreamville Records released her debut EP titled Pho in October 2016 where she started getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her perform on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. On the 8th of December that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 2016 she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing in the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video was released on September 5th. Then, on the 9th of November the singer released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then on November 13 two new singles titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song, made available with a video on YouTube February 20, 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. She was part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
